Food & Wine: Cocktails 2008

April 30, 2008

foodandwinecocktails09.jpgFood & Wine’s Cocktails 2008 has recently been released, and I think that any cocktail enthusiast should add this year’s guide to their collection. Sure, I’m a bit biased as managed to have a recipe included in the guide. But seriously, I just got the book in the mail, and there is some good stuff in there. In past years, the annual publication has left a bit to be desired, but then again, the book is intended to track trends in the world of cocktails. If the purpose of the book is to document bar ideologies, we should recognize the dominance of classically-styled drinks as a sign that a more sophisticated approach to cocktails is becoming more mainstream. In this year’s guide, you will find recipes from fellow blogging bartenders, Jeffrey Morgenthaler, Jamie Boudreau, and Jimmy Patrick, which is a pretty cool group to be a part of. Anyway, I think this is definitely a book you should pick up. I don’t remember the last time so many experts in any field gathered under one binding.
